COMMUTERS are still waiting to see whether Ken Livingstone will take legal action over the public private partnership (PPP) proposed for the London Underground.
London Regional Transport was due to reveal whether the PPP contracts were still under negotiation by 10am on Wednesday this week, after which the London Mayor was due to 'carefully review' the response with his lawyers.
The legal action is being threatened by the Mayor as a means of enforcing London's interests in relation to the PPP proposal.
He said: "If the contracts are still being negotiated and, in particular, if the provisions on risk transfer, which are key to any judgement of value for money had not been finalised, then London Regional Transport Board had no business recommending that the government proceed with the PPP contracts and (Transport Secretary) Stephen Byers had no business accepting that recommendation."
