I was somewhat surprised at the your leading article (News Shopper, August 1) All Change! Towns Face Move.
Your writer refers to the move to change the boundaries as an 'unusual step'.
Surely not? For the past few years Lambeth and Southwark, Greenwich and Bexley, Westminster and Kensington, Newham and Tower Hamlets, and the City of London and Westminster have all been merged very successfully.
Surely this is the logical step as people move out of London and our population falls.
I don't understand the problem. Are Penge, Crystal Palace and Clockhouse not more similar to Forest Hill, Perry Vale, Sydenham and Bellingham than the rest of the Borough of Bromley?
I for one, am looking forward to it.
We at this end of the borough have been unable to get our voices heard for a long time.
This is because we are basically working class people being swallowed up, and therefore parliamentary represented by the more affluent and middle class areas of Beckenham, West Wickham, Eden Park and Shortlands.
I think people at the northern end of the borough should rejoice as it may very well mean we have parliamentary representation by people we actually vote for.
