ARE Bromley residents aware of the change in refuse collection due at the end of March/April 2002?

The council intends to stop collection from the rear of properties, changing to kerbside collection only.

This means many will have to bring their rubbish through the house each week.

If you forget, then you will have to cart two weeks' stinking rubbish through your house or take it in your own time to the local rubbish dump.

Ever tried getting into Waldo Road tip at the weekend?

It's absolute hell. Just ask the residents.

Many people will simply put their dustbins/bags outside their front doors, which looks awful, attracting foxes and cats, and rubbish spewed across pavements.

If you don't want this to happen, protest now to the council.

In effect, we will now be doing more than half its job ourselves. This is, of course, intended to save money and shed jobs.

It will be an unpopular false economy.

Like the time the council stopped cutting the grass in some parks.

The residents didn't like it.

Just what are we paying for if the council is prepared to cut this service to the bone?

Be warned, if Bromley Council gets away with this policy, other councils will follow suit. And, before you know it, our streets will end up looking just like a rubbish dump in no time.
