Awards for Sawbridgeworth cadets

TUESDAY MAY 23. THE sky's the limit for Sawbridgeworth Air Training Corps cadets whose achievements were recognised at the squadron's annual awards presentation evening.

The event, at the cadets' headquarters in Cutforth Road, Sawbridgeworth, saw former Royal Military Police officer Val Monk present the accolades.

Special praise was heaped on Cadet Flt Sergeant Kevin Gatland, who is the first cadet from the 309 (Sawbridgeworth) Squadron to embark on officer training with the RAF.

Other recipients were: Peter Ford (Musician of the Year trophy), Cdt Sgt Christopher Hadley; Bass trophy for RAFA Wings Collecting, Cdt Rosiland Marsh; Mark Sykes Trophy for Marksmanship, Cdt Cpl James Convoy; Lisa Slater Memorial Trophy for Sports Achievement, Cdt Kelly Roberts; Mustang Trophy for the Best Flight of Cadets, Tornado Flight; Per Ardua Trophy for Most Promising New Recruit; Cdt Lorraine Smith; Venture Adventure Trophy, Cdt Cpl Laurence Raven;

Fred Whitehead Trophy for Cadet of the Year, Cdt David Dear.
