On Easter Monday Geoff Chapple's men went to Hereford and ground out a 2-0 win, the perfect way to erase Saturday's disappointing 1-0 home defeat by Forest Green.

In front of a crowd in excess of 1,500, Hereford started well, with Ian Rogerson and Leroy May having shots drift wide of the Ks' goal.

Three minutes from half time though, Ks went ahead. Scott Cooksey fumbled a Colin Luckett corner and Mark Harris rammed home the rebound.

Hereford went close when skipper Ian Wright headed a Gavin Williams free kick on the top of the bar, and the Edgar Street faithful grew optimistic their side would level.

But, nine minutes from time, Geoff Pitcher doubled the Ks lead. The midfielder picked up a Joe O'Connor through ball and finished with aplomb past Cooksey.

Gary Patterson made it a sour day for Ks when he was given his marching orders, five minutes from time, for two bookable offences.

The win banished thoughts of Saturday's dismal home performance against relegation threatened Forest Green, where former England International Tony Daley was an inspiration, and former Portsmouth midfielder Chris Burns deservedly scored the winner for the Gloucester side.

The previous Thursday, a sole Ronnie Green effort was enough to give Ks a 1-0 win and a place in the Nationwide Macmillan Trophy at the expense of Hayes at Kingsmeadow - Geoff Chapple fielding only five of the side that brushed aside Sutton in the second leg of the FA Trophy, two days before.

Ks now face managerless Doncaster on May 8 in the final. A venue will be decided nearer the time.
