BLACKHEATH will be hoping it's lucky 13 when they take on Fylde at home on Saturday.

Having recorded their 12th league defeat in succession at Exeter this weekend, Club's only hope of survival in Premiership Two is a win against the Lancashire stragglers.

The existing rules state that only one team is automatically relegated and, luckily for Club, the teams immediately above them have fared only slightly better. Fylde have three points and Wakefield just four.

Mid-table Exeter's pack was just too strong for Danny Vaughan's men on Saturday. Blackheath got off to a dismal start, allowing Exeter winger Hargreaves to fashion a try from the half-way line.

But John Clarke gave the visitors some hope when he scored a typically powerful short range try, which, once converted, gave them the lead.

From then on Exeter dominated the game, and had Bryan Easson been in better kicking form, the scoreline would have been far worse than the eventual 26-7 result.

A good home crowd could give Club the boost they need. Tickets cost £10 (school-age children £4) and include a programme - why not pop along to the Rectory Field in Charlton Road and offer your support? As an added bonus, you'll receive a £2 discount if you show this article on the day!

Old Coleians were unable to sustain a good first half performance, going down 31-10 at Thanet Wanderers. A try from Simon Groves and kicks from Matt Townsend had given the visitors a 10-7 lead going into the break but the second half belonged to Thanet. Tries from Matt McArdle, Peter Macauley, Mike Pond and Gareth Redmond sealed a comfortable 31-10 victory with Pond kicking a fine drop goal at the end.

Fellow London One side Charlton Park also failed to capitalise on good early form. Park went ahead after just two minutes against Guildford and Godalming, Mark Williams driving over after a series of rucks.

But the visitors response was immediate. A passage of direct and incisive running coupled with excellent handling saw them score a converted try and take a lead they were not to relinquish. Final score: Charlton Park 19 G&G 46.

Greenwich RFC maintained their incredible record in Kent Three, defeating Greenwich Academicals 63-0. James Woodhouse, John Bolwell, Warren Galler, Nick Sawle, Paul Winser and Kevin Lilley all contributed to the massive score. Greenwich have yet to concede a point in the league.
