NEARLY 200 children took part in an Island primary school tag rugby festival last week.

Sixteen schools competed in the under-nines’ event, organised by school games co-ordinators Andy Day and Tony Harris, and hosted by Broadlea Primary School.

Wootton won the competition, with Carisbrooke runners-up.

Mr Harris said: “The standard was high, with many teams showing they could be future contenders to be the Island’s primary school tag rugby champions when they reach Year 6.”
