Sussmes leads the Seaclose records

SWIMMING

THE final races of the Seaclose Swimming Club Championships were completed last week at Medina — with 292 new PB times and 21 new club records set across the series.

Sam Sussmes, 15, led the way with five new records in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m and 200m medley and 50m butterfly. Sophie Alchin, 17, had records in 100m backstroke, 100m medley, 50m and 100m freestyle while Abigail Lacey, ten, had records in 25m, 200m and 400m freestyle, and 200m backstroke.

Joining them with four records was Luke Oakley, 17, in 100m, 200m, 400m and 1,500m freestyle.

Tilly Jones, nine, had records in 25m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, while Sebastian Darlaston-Jones, six, had a record in the 25m freestyle and David Blackman, 17, set a new record in 50m backstroke.

The new records set in the last week of action were 200m backstroke by Abigail in a time of 3.09.73, Sam in the 200m medley in 2.27.98, and Luke set a new record of 18.13.13 in the 1,500m freestyle.
