AS HAS been the same sorry tale all summer, very little cricket survived for Isle of Wight clubs on Saturday.

Ventnor's match in Division 1 of the Southern Premier League was cancelled due to rain, but they have the chance to end their lacklustre season — in which points were deducted — on a high on Saturday against Rowledge.

With the threat of being relegated from Division 3 (South) in their final match of the season, Shanklin and Godshill could not have asked for a better performance than the one they served up against Langley Manor on the road.

Another season next year in Division 3 (South) was secured with an easy eight-wicket victory to seal their opponents' relegation fate.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the Islanders bowled out Langley Manor for a meagre 97 runs.

Callum Wright (4-20) and Harry Moore (3-19) did most of the damage with the ball.

In reply, Shanklin comfortably passed Langley Manor's total in 21.3 overs, with Harry Collier (48 not out) and Matt Lambourne (31 not out) seeing them home.

In Division 4 (South), Ventnor rubber-stamped their promotion as runners-up without a ball being bowled in the final round of fixtures, but Ryde II ended their mediocre campaign on a high at a canter at fellow mid-table side Folland (Hamble).

After winning the toss and electing to field, Ryde put the home side to the sword — skittling them out for a paltry 67 runs and a nine-wicket win.

Spearheading the attack were Jerin Jose (2-3), Kensei Parker (4-3) and Mark Tuckwell (3-23).

Luke Jones saw Ryde home in 10.1 overs with a quickfire 39 not out.
