One of our Isle of Wight Wessex League sides is in action tonight (Thursday, April 4).

Newport will travel to 17th place Ash United in Wessex League Division One, hoping to bounce back from defeat in the 'Island derby'.

Port will be boosted with an extra rest, after their Tuesday night (April 2) fixture away at Romsey Town was postponed last minute by the referee due to a waterlogged pitch - just as the team was exiting the coach.

The Islanders were last in action during a 1-0 defeat at the hands of their landlords, East Cowes Vics, at Beatrice Avenue on Good Friday.

The result meant Vics had beaten Port in a league fixture for the first time since the 1987/88 season.

Tonight's kick-off at the Smurfit Kappa Stadium is 7.45pm.
